About time I blogged ...

There’s some useful work being done in my house on this soggy windy Monday. A bed probably destined for the tip is being stripped of staples and ancient brown fabric so that some structural work can be done too. It’s not the only bed like this in my house, Matty has the one I picked up way before she was born and gave to my eldest. Amazing what storage fits inside a gutted divan.

So today was day one of open studios this year, and Mattys rat fell asleep in her display. So we had a real rat on show at The Raggy Rat 

I’m planning to blog everyday so you can have a little taste of the event ...

Sorry about the huge paws ....

But that’s just the way it goes sometimes! 

I am going to enjoy furring these for an Irish tiger! 

A Happy Birthday 12+12

Two not-so-little-but-will-always-be-my-babies girls are twelve today. They wanted really big badges ....

So this years handmade cards feature some felt flowers and a couple of strong safety pins, with stitching and a dot of wadding in the middle. 

I think they like them. Our next mission is to give some fabulous Lalaloopsy dolls a makeover or two. Twelve may be awesomely grown up, but it’s still great to play and craft with mummy. Bring it on. I’ve got my own Lalaloopsy doll too ....

Stay tuned for new frocks and costumes. And pets. Apparently. 

Facing Up To It - 22

So it’s January? Gosh. I swear the years get faster as you get older. And I should know. Yesterday in anticipation of being 6 weeks post op, I made a comparison pic using a nifty little app. I was shocked. I tried to line up the nose tips and eyebrows ....

Then today I had my 6-week follow-up with L my orthodontist and prepared to feel uncomfortable as she removed tones of old rubbers large and small including three pieces of powerchain! I couldn’t open very wide but she and I did well. 

I got new powerchain, new, light arch wires, some rather groovy handmade hooks and aqua ligatures on my Corsodyl stained teeth. 

There are only 2 ‘boxes’ of light elastics keeping my jaws in relationship, and of course I took pictures so that when they fly across the room I can replicate the arrangement! 

I went home to cook lunch and sing songs (badly), then chew lunch (equally badly) but enjoyably so. I feel like being creative again. Watch this space!

A fine pack ...

Just before I went in for jaw surgery, I drew two of the dogs on this portrait. Then about a week after, I tied on a bandana to help with the post surgery drool, and sat down to draw the remaining two over a couple of days so a dear friend could collect this! 

I am thankful that I found the brain cells and my muse to complete this work after such an ordeal. But I did and I’m sure it was therapy. It was something that made me feel more like ‘me’ and that’s important.
