using the stickers and instructions in our potato growers kit, we made this lovely rain gauge ...

and then it rained ... sorry about that ...



following our pipeworks from last year, we had a repair done to the cement on the patio, and of course we had to leave our mark. our hands looked great after the rain had filled them too ...



i like this time of year, the light is brighter, the days longer and things are growing ... soon i hope to see a shoot from one of our aforementioned potatoes ...

I decided to needle-felt his eyes, so that they would look more part of him, more painted ....

Rat Head Gets Lower Jaw - Finally!

i have layered and bent three pieces of foam to try and create a bit of a smile for the rat head ...

What a Beauty ...

we went pony riding today, and yes, we did miss all the rain!

tell us a story, old bear ....

i recently found an old friend again. well ok, he's not that old - i made him when i was around 8. i cant have been older then eight because my friend just turned 9 when i finished him ...



here is the book i poured over, then my mum bought me the yellow fur and i gave him life !



he is a bit flat, and lumpy. please don't mention that one arm is bigger than the other. i haven't told him. and i have forgotten his name. do you know?

planting potatoes ....

time to plan our free home educators spud generating kit ... Matty has out 6 seed potatoes that we have been chitting in the pantry on the window sill ...



Daisy has the stickers that go on the grow bags ... we have 2 varieties ...



Mary wants hers mashed, with cheese, please ...

where have they gone???

we have quite the collection of fun sewing cards now ...
I made most of them from food boxes and a hole punch ...


but daisy likes to sew them up in various ways, and created this piece of art !



and now lets all stand next to it, for the photo .... !

It's all heads at the moment - WIP rat head ....

a bit of nip and tuck .... i sewed to shape first, then add glue to reinforce the structure ...



here is the muzzle and cheeks fitted to the head along with the ears so you can get an idea of size and position ... i am a dressmaker, so i use pins and they stick well in a duct-tape dummy head ... ouch!



even without the lower jaw, the profile is starting to look like what i am after!

Fire and Ice ...

we went to see the fire and ice exhibition at the portland arts centre and did some casting using cuttle fish moulds and lead free pewter with potter Bill Crumblehome...

Mr Spunkity is a big hit !
