I made it for Jess!

this was the weekend that was ...

The first weekend of ARTWEY! Quick, grab that camera, and snap the first visitors!

It might be cheating asking Daisy to sign the book, but my girls really enjoyed the display too ...

Steam punk goat is here for a little while longer, then he goes off for big adventures ... he is very much admired by those he meets ...

'I'll take this please,' says Mary, about her own dog-on-wheels!

spot any familiar faces?

Here is the Cat, at work on Barn Owl soft sculpture number 4 ...

The fuzzies even start to ask all the kinds of questions that my visitors do. Then they go one better, and turn up with fake money, to buy me out!

Do come and see us next weekend, won't you?

New Cardigans!

Now knitting may not be her usual project, but my dear friend from soggibottom made a super job of these! About two years ago that is, when Artwey was in it's infancy. And my girls were much smaller. But good things come to those who wait, and children grow in front of our very eyes!

I just cannot knit. I have tried!

picnic with friends ...

We went to Abbotsbury gardens with friends, for a picnic, play and explore ...

a pretend camp fire was made using fallen bamboo leaves and poppy petals for the red flames!

Matty basks in the orange glow!

then the fire was taken apart after lunch, to make pictures and objects ...

The girls look very smart today. If it's true that The Raggy Rat cannot knit, who made those lovely cardis?

I'll tell you tomorrow ...

pretty bunting ...

this is my second lot of bunting, made for a birthday BBQ ...

I got lost in my fabric stash, finding old friends, and exciting prints, along with some silk too. I chose a delicate rainbow of shades for this 15 flag length...

Edward Tulane - Rabbit Doll, WIP ...

these days table space is at a premium! Mt dining table often looks like this ... but I still manage to get some work done around here, as you can see from the figure in the background ...

It's Edward Tulane, again! And I am off to work on him some more, now ...

Riding on Jay ...

We went horse riding, on a pony called Jay - we had ridden her before, but not for some time!

We fitted our lesson in just around lunch time, so while matty went first, Mary and Daisy had some sandwiches.

Then it was Daisy's turn, but Jay felt like she had done enough and would rather get back to the juicy fields ...

But off they went, and Matty ate her lunch. That's Bailey, keeping watch for crumbs at the girls' feet!

"nice day for it!"

Then Mary has a go ... she took a while to get used to the movement, and then she was quite happy and went four times round the school!

A Fish Supper with Ed and Elton

Yesterday I had a really enjoyable night out, Talking, giggling, dancing and eating fish and chips, down in the hall at Wey Valley School...It was probably the tail end of my 40th Birthday celebrations, but what a lovely ending it was too!

The school hall has a really good stage, and at just the right moment Ed's son Jack tugged on the curtains to reveal Mr Hintze in his signature red jacket and straw hat. All held their breath at the curtains momentarily paused, then squeaked the rest of the way open. Ed played the grand piano, alongside his trusty TYROS3, perched on top,and did what he always does so well, entertained his varied audience with top performing and a smattering of tasteful jokes ...Ed chose real audience pleasers from his HUGE repertoire of Elton songs and the atmosphere was brilliant.

Then the awesome school dinner lady brought out chip-suppers for all, you could have a sausage or a veggie burger, if you wanted, and some tartare sauce was dug out for the birthday girl too. With lights up, there was an opportunity to chat with friends and family, and some thing nice and comforting to soak up the rosé drank by members of Dorset for Singing.

In the second half, fuelled with fishies and encouraged by Ed's lovely wife Jenny, the dancing began, as Ed appeared on stage in Gold Lamé and rocked the school hall. I simply cant say enough how impressed I am with the size of Mr Hinze's repertoire, although his enthusiasm for playing got the better of him when his G-string snapped, mid song! After that he let it hang out so it wouldn't make funny noises.

Ed thanked his supporters, and us for being fab fans, and we knew he really meant it. And we really were happy we came, especially some of us! The last encore was an Elton track, to dance to, and so we did! And I got my poster signed at half time, too!

first things, first - that leaky roof, I think!

and probably replacement windows and doors ... ooh, I am going to have fun with this! but those local double glazing salesmen won't get my call ...

Not sure that the Cock and Horse in the Bedroom will stay ...

Here be Rainbows!

Here is another early birthday present from a dear friend, I managed to get this one early too, I plan on stringing it out this year I think! This rainbow bracelet has all kinds of charms that represent me and a bead for every colour of the rainbow. It is also just the right size, which makes me very happy as most adult jewellery it too big! Visit Goddess Jewels for one that suits you perfectly, too!

Bunting is something i have always wanted, and I was inspired to try making some this week as a complete break from soft sculpting, and life in general!

The result makes me very happy!

Three Dylexics and a Sat-Nav ...

I was lucky enough to get a break this week and visit North Somerset Arts Week along with two other Artwey Artists on a whistle stop tour ... we even managed to drop off some of our Open Studio Event Maps!

We did take a few wrong turnings, but everything came out in the wash and we saw everything we planned to bar one venue. I picked up this lovely new mug, which is light and shapely and keeps my tea very HOT!

I also got an Early Birthday Dinner with Bill in Cheddar. I have a very BIG Birthday coming up this week! Eeeek!

Happy Birthday Mary!

It has been three years since I announced the birth of Mary-baby on my Blog, myself - on the day she was born!

each year, my Irises usually come out in May, but this year they were much earlier, so I thought I had better capture them before they were gone!
