Mousey REmake!

sometimes I get asked to re create and old favourite! To make mousey, I had to have the original accidentally forgotten somewhere and sent to me for patterning!

I worked with some soft velboa/minky, in the colours of mousey in his youth! And searched around to find the right eyes and nose, even copying the fact that his ears were not evenly applied to his head!

the cheeky tongue was fun to apply, and reminded me of a childhood friend I loved and lost, called Sandy-Bear. He had a tongue which was frequently re-glued, and as he dried on the mantel piece I would be desperate to have him back!

Finished mousey looks very dapper, and was posted off for a christmas surprise!

Here they both are, the old and the new - which reminds me, sorry for being AWOL in December, I was very busy this year, and it's almost time for a new one! All the very best xxxxx

Ottoman long been in need of TLC!

My Ottoman has looked like this for a while, I pulled the fabric off the lid, whick had worn on the corners leaving frayed holes ages ago, and until this month, when ive given myself a sewing break, it remained a project-pending!

I took some PVA and an old prayer book from the Dorchester Curiosity centre (50p, bargain!)and covered up the nasty hardboard base. First I had to clean off some abundant cobwebs and dead woodlice!

Those legs now look quite sweet instead of blocks of unfinished wood ... and Jesus approves, of course!

Next, a begged-for wallpaper sample book was used to cover the sides. This sample book even has fabric in it, which I will use for the foam topper ...

and the insides were covered with both prayer book and wallpaper ... I have just the job for this Ottoman now! And no, not as my coffin. More than one person said it looks like my coffin ... but that does give me a rather sweet idea!

Next, I got this rather fantastic lettering from Ebay, and applied it before varnishing with a nice tin of ronseal.

And finally, screwing the lid back on gives us a new toy box, for the living room!

Saturday Shopping ...

Saturday turned out to be such a lovely day in Bridport ...

With a stop off by the sea, along the coast road ... this was not a good spot for harvesting driftwood though ...

Do you take the time to stand, and stare? I spotted this feather in the sky! It was a day of bright sunshine and beautiful clouds!

Love the vintage quarter in Bridport, I made a new friend! She made me laugh, but I didn't take her home with me!

I did buy a double sided mohair throw, which will be given a new lease of life of course, and I will share that little adventure with you ... A scary cat guarding pine and painted :-)

Book keeping again!

A Junior Mission Praise from a Weymouth school was greatly in need of some TLC, esp once I had stripped off all the parcel tape to see what I was working with ...

here is the heavy book put back together, and the spine supported externally with some blue fabric, left over from the cover ..

And here is the repaired and covered book, ready for the new term, we hope it lives for a long time now! The commissioner wanted Holy-Spirit Blue, with a bit of sparkle, so I used some silver and blue glitter-print fabric for the spine...
