Illustrator Me

Here are four sample illustrations from a book I’ve been working on ....
The pictures have been those of friends and their children, or indeed people who became friends when I asked them about drawing and why I was doing it.

These first two are just photographs from my phone’s camera.

And these second two are scanned and cleaned up, but low res just for the internet.
The most cocoa-pops I’ve even seen on the floor. I think I would have yelled something not take a photo like my friend, but I’m very glad she did. This is a rather good ‘naughty’ picture.

I have other manuscripts, and illustrations swimming round my head and so perhaps I should get on... lockdown isn’t over yet. Covid19 isn’t beaten.

Because you are mine!

The children's book im working on is carried about with me in portable form, only very recently it was accidently given an oil bath (dont ask!) and has become hard to read! Although i will keep it as it has memories and some charming additions from Daisy, it is time for a new copy to carry about with me ...

A thingummy, and a page of ideas!

The lovely Daisy-D made a rather cool Thingummy-bob! We are learning about what all the K'ex parts can do, and sticking together all the wonderful bits and bobs we opened at Christmas!

And I had the privilege of sitting alone in a coffee bar with my posh coffee, and the A4 journal I use to record ideas for my book! I had a rather nice fountain pen too, and got down a couple of pages of ides for images to bring my children's book to life!

That mini book isn't the actual size of the book, but a mock up allowing me to turn pages and 'feel' my way around the story. I wrote inside with black pen and my best handwriting so Daisy, my reader, can read it too...

First Birthday Cards of the year ...

Mary has spent a lot of time as a home educated pre-schooler watching, listening, cuddling up and sucking her thumb ... She will not be 4 until May this year, but has recently begun to want to form letters, and read books too!

There is no better motivator for writing than something you really want to write, and we always make and write in our handmade cards together ...

You are in control and can decorate your card inside and out!

Stickers are fun!

I worked on a few bigger sewing projects, then I added 'music' to the house, and played my violin ...! The kids were very kind and said it was nice, I played my friend Willy's song, The Carpenter of Sollas only not very well!

Cute rat, looking for a new home ....

This is a full colour pencil drawing of one of my pet rats, its mounted and wrapped in film to keep it nice. I was once writing and illustrating a book about life keeping pet rats, but it didn't happen, although this painting is still rather sweet ... I am very open to offers on this one, my address is under 'art for the hands'.
