WIP - (flash) the border collie soft toy ...

i was baby sitting the evening before seb completed his coastal charity walk, and thinking about the next day i took some fur pieces and a soft toy book over to my friends house - well, i can't knit!
this is the dog without any stuffing or eyes, or tail!

i used 33 pieces of fabric to create this dog, and inside the ears is a vintage style newsprint cotton, which im rather fond of, to allude to all the media attention for seb and flash!
what do you think of him so far?

the original flash painting and a print for chester park school, side by side for the last time ...

me and the painting before leaving for the beach, i did think i would be giving the pic to seb, instead of raffling or auctioning it, but i thought i might have to argue the case with seb, who had already reached his fund raising target...!

FLASH - AAAAAA-aaaaaaaaahhhhhh! (flash gordon theme)

hoooraaaay - i have just heared that we can RAFFLE the picture of Flash, Seb Green's Dog! Just the picture created by me, not the actual dog at all (at least one well-wisher was confused previously!). folk have to put £5 in an envelope with their name on it, and the raffle will be drawn in the pub on sunday, at seb's welcome home. I'd love to give my on-line friends and blog followers the oppotunity to take part too, as its so near the end now you will need to have a paypal account, drop me an email at the address top left.

here is the official web page or Seb's odyssey
http://www.sebsodyssey.org.uk/

and here is some information to be found on the starlight charity website giving more of seb's story and an oppotunity to donate direclty ...

"Dear Seb supporters,

As those of you who have been able to follow the website will be aware, Seb has almost completed his circumnavigation of mainland Great Britain and will cross the finish line in Weymouth at 11am on Sunday 14th December, having walked something in excess of 3,134 miles since the 1st February this year. It is a truly remarkable achievement for this extraordinary teenager who has travelled, largely unaccompanied, with just his dog Flash for company. He has experienced sun, rain, hail, sleet and snow, gale force winds and days of balmy sunshine. He has camped in sand dunes, forests, fields, back gardens, wild country and 'proper' campsites. He has stayed in the homes of friends, well-wishers, DofE leaders, youth workers, and total strangers. He has stayed in fire stations, youth centres, B&B's and a 'Grand' hotel. He has experienced extraordinary highs and extraordinary lows, and through it all has never once lost his focus for more than a fleeting moment.

An outline programme for the Finish is posted at the foot of this email.

But what has sustained him most, and helped him achieve this extraordinary feat, has been the unwavering support and encouragement of hundreds of individuals, families, organisations, and complete strangers who have helped him along the way in numerous ways - by providing accommodation, transport, meals, equipment, sponsorship, support funding, companionship, laughter and much much more.

We would love as many of you as possible to join us at the finish next Sunday to welcome him home, but if you can't make it in person, or live too far away, why not send a final message for the website by emailing it to mary00harper@btopenworld.com or send him a card c/o Mary Harper, Crossways Youth & Community CentreOld Farm Way, CROSSWAYS, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 8TU to arrive no later than Friday 12th Dec. For those of you who make the finish there will be a message book to record your message in too.

And if you do make it to the finish, do come and make yourselves known to members of the Support Team (we'll have badges) - we would love to meet you in person (if we haven't already!) and put faces to names.
We hope by Sunday morning that Seb WILL have reached his £20000 target - we are very very close. If any of you ARE proposing to present fundraising cheques at the finish, it would be really useful to know a definite amount by email in advance to enable us to add it to his total on Saturday evening... It might just stop him carrying on for a further round! (If it is a personal donation and you will be making it on-line using http://www.justgiving.com/sebsodyssey, there is no need to notify me).

Finally, whether or not you are there on the day, please know for certain that without YOUR contribution this extraordinary event could not have been the runaway success that it has. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Best wishes on behalf of ALL the Support Team

trying to turn a breech baby .....

this morning my kitchen smelled of smoke, and there are some strange looking cigars on the counter! we have now tired moxibustion at home twice, it worked the first time and we had a head-down baby for a few days, then the baby flipped back ...

has anyone else ever tried moxibustion? we opened a window and put the kitchen fan on!

perhaps we will try again tonight, after watching a bit of telly with my feet up ....

this is me and my football bump, and yes, thats flash-the-dog's picture taped to the wall above me, and steves birthday cards ... walked along the beach where seb left from, with steve and the girls yesterday, i felt a lot bigger than when seb left 48 days ago, and flash's barking made daisy cry!

http://www.sebsodyssey.org.uk/flyermk2.html

and scroll down the messages page for another mention, someone was confused and thought we might be autioning off the REAL flash! leave a message for seb too, or flash if you prefer!

some great wallpapers!

my kitchen, the progress of which i have been blogging on wessexfm, is still not finnished altho it will be this week, with the tiles going up on thursday. it will be nice not living with a cluttered dining room including the fridge next to matty's high-chair. it is covered in sticky finger prints!

its not easy to get any sewing done, but i have managed a bit, and the drawing of flash was admired by at least one of my kitchen fitters ...

i should finnish that minature camera for the raggy rat soon, in the meantime here is a peep at the treasure we found behind those very old 50s style cupboards ....

this second one takes me back, to wearing plastic bibs and sucking rusks.... do pop over to the blog of sebs progress, linked from the left if this doesn't work of course ...

squark ! a new puppet commission ....

yippeee i got the job pf making a parrot puppet for a cumbrian performance company, just thru word of mouth which is famtastic ... i have done some sketches and lots of fun research, and i hope to begin this week and get it done before 24th feb, as their deadline is 1st march ...
i also need to make a special raggyrat holding one of these camera cases ....
and containing one of these ... and talking of cameras, i forgot mine on friday when me and the fuzzy twins went to see seb green leaving on his round britain walk. We met flash, who i felt i knew really well after spending so long drawing him, but his barking made daisy cry. Matty eyed up the paramedic who was on hand, and i said hello to seb himself, who said he found my blog while 'googling' which was funny, i didnt even think of him finding me himself! i managed to wish seb good luck and shake his hand before it was time to go ...

WIP - stage 1 of the drawing of flash the border collie ....

here is the ground work of my drawing of flash, all framed out in black as i like to do it, altho i sometimes use dark sepia in this manner ... uploaded for information, and something the organisers of sebs support can see at a meeting tonight...

here is the updated web page, i will post again to update the links, and i do believe sebs coastal walk will have a blog too...

http://www.sebsodyssey.org.uk/

and here is some information to be found on one of the charity websites giving more of seb's story and an oppotunity to donate ...

http://www.starlight.org.uk/menu_pages/News_details.asp?id=104

it is lovely to get some drawing done again, i have even been able to do a bit while sitting with daisy and matty and they didnt poke or smudge it!

as i type, my kitchen is filled with noise and a new ceiling is going up, but it sounds like my girls are managing to nap thru it ....
