House work and treasure!

Today, after a morning out Mike decided to pull some old panelling off the stairs to see what's beneath. The paneling is wallpapered and the paper is split so there is nothing to lose!

Hidden behind the boards, on a ledge is a small taped up package. The tape is very yellow and the paper has been nibbled by our pet silverfish!

I have met these guys before! I found and photographed their graffiti under paper in two bedrooms and in the living room, where the family left another date. They papered the living room a month before they hid this note! 

 

A 44 year old coin, which probably looked very new when it was hidden, as 1971 was the year that these coins first came into circulation. It was also the year I was born ...

Home educating - each other!

Don't be fooled by this studious looking picture, Matty and Daisy are just colouring in the margins ... Just what I did at school, I think!



'School' is a popular game at the moment, I found Mary sitting in Daisy's chair and Daisy 'teaching' her the alphabet from her own knowledge (and not bad either)


Daisy's favourite thing to do at the moment is read 'Peter And Jane' Ladybird books!

it's still about old shed new shed - its also about a wider driveway. And I only drive a Hyundai GETZ 1.1!

House Work Round-up ....

and see the new fence go up ...



then the porch is finally completed when the floor is tiled ...



The scaffolding goes down, and our house smiles out from new windows, and my hawthorn tree looks very pretty in blossom ...

Day 11 - Once the rotting old arched door was removed, the space really started to open up ... don't get me wrong, it was lovely and I do feel a bit bad about ripping it out, but it would have needed a lot of TLC, and we are looking forward to the extra space!



i see my coat hooks came in very handy during the work ... here is Ashleigh ...



here we are inside the porch, lots of men on site today, including a sparky and lots of veiws of yellow underpants ... I didn't catch the sparky, and I have spared you the underpants!

Day 12 - Ben's long day ...



Remember my poor old front door? This very cold winter had really upset it, and the duct tape was to keep out the cold wind. And this door had always been protected by the outer, porch door!



Old Door, no more ... I like how the girls are all shorter than the new arched window ... hmmm, memories of BBC's Playschool!



New door from the porch side ... we like red!



Day 14 - Daisy was pleased to see Jamie back, along with Mike, to lay some slabs and poor my new porch floor ...
So now, im just watching cement dry, and longing to fill the space with wellies!

no, its not a school room ....

it's my partly re-vamped dining room ...

and my 3 of my four girls love it ...

let there be light!

a wee while ago when i was recovering from surgery, and my friend eve had brought round lunch, the men who do street lights came round to find out why ours wasnt working ... after a poke about they made eve move her car in case the badly corroded top half fell on it!

so yesterday they finally came back to finnish the job which has been on going for weeks. they needn't have bothered, its not dark round here, but the nieghbours wanted what they pay their taxes for ... sometimes some men would turn up and look at the job. i was sorry i was holding mary and a phone when they lifted away the old lamp, as that looked pretty impressive ...

but i did get these images and had a chat with the girls while we watched him work
and i hid behind the sofa so the man wouldnt see me haha ! he didn't wave at daisy and matty tho...

now wheres he off to? does he want to see in the bedroom? i wish i had put away my jammies !
perhaps he just wants an overview of his handy work ?
