House work ...

I forgot to take the before pic, the everyday view of the hall prior to Mike taking down the false wall with the crack in the wallpaper ....

My that cream was a nasty colour ... The old door and frame have been recycled to cover up the electoral thingies that we don't need to see. Also there is space in the bottom for candles and a torch!

Next it's time for an old moth nibbled carpet to go, and those ceiling tiles that look like rice cakes too.

It's gonna get more messy before it gets better!

ground works ....

Day 3 - forgot to take any pictures ...
Day 4 - Spot the Window that was put in yesterday ...

four men on site ... that's a lot of builders' tea!

some ground work on the front lawn, so we can bury a new soak away. Our Hawthorn tree should enjoy this, and the birds that visit it ...

Mike and Jamie's last day on the porch building - for now ...

Daisy is going to miss Jamie!

Casualty - When Mike and Jamie cut the cast iron downpipe, the hot filings melted the glaze on this wessex fm mug, and the skin on the back of Jamie's neck!

Day 5 - The porch is now awaiting the glass parts ...

Daniel is working in the living room, and Mark, in Mary's room ...

slowly saying good bye to a lot of old plastic ... my house looks like it's opening its eyes wider!

Soon, my plan to disguise my house so it wont be recognised on google street view will all be revealed - (evil laugh) - I just watched Flash Gordon the other night, can you tell?

This week was a busy one ...

FLASH BACK - do you remember this fireplace? Well, this week, is went away forever... but don't worry, I kept the children!

it all started with scaffolding, and a man on the roof ...

A lot of rubble, dust and more dust... there was no where to sit, and no where to play, so we went outside, and did Hamma beads in the dining room. Mary covered the floor in book, and lost her red mini, again ...

I sneaked in at the end of the first day, to admire the new, very local, Portland stone. It looks like that old wallpaper is really going to have to go now!

the new duel fuel cassette stove, it has to dry out now, and settle in, but luckily we have nice warm weather now... that plaster has to dry too, the guys had to make 2 holes in the wall to unblock the chimney... that was very noisy and dusty, and Mary cried ...

and THIS WEEK, those fuzzy-girls turned 4. Obviously, this year, we didnt put their cards on the firplace!

Enjoy being 4, my little girls! Now to fend off more of those questions about starting school ... I am keeping them with me!

Messy!

coasters we made for granny's birthday ...

matty getting stuck into it ...

meanwhile, inthe garden, mary finding some mud and water on the top of a manhole cover ... one of her more common words is sticky, and she often demands to be wiped !

i must say its great to have broadband again, after all that downtime last week ... not being able to post to the blog was very frustrating ...
