Pippn-Papillon! Pet Pawtrait!

The basic outline - pippin's eye were flashed-orange in the photograph, so i quickly fill the pupils in black, with an added white highlight ...

Putting in the mail colours, building up depth gently as I go ...

Looking very hard to pick out all the colours I can see, traces of strong pink and even blue for some of the shadows!

Fishy business!

You know, a long time ago I thought I wanted to be a vet ... now I'm just happy to play with haemostats/forceps, and various needles, and usually a whole lot less blood!

So today, i made some fish, for the Spirit of the Sea festival in two weekend's time ...

A Ratty Kind of Weekend ....

Made a black 'car rat' and a silver grey rat bag ...

Then Mary drew two very special rats ... she has never drawn a rat before! They are of our new girls, yes - a Rat owning family again!

Here is young Smudge, she is a Himalayan-hooded rat ...

And her sister Pepsi, a Hooded girl, and the alpha rat! Both named by my girls during a dinner discussion!

This one had a spine but missed a back cover, so i have 2 new covers and then covered in some chef's trousers!

All finished and perhaps quite hard wearing too! Saved from further wear and restored to the owner ...

Froggy Alterations ...

This was Mary's Idea for a second talking frog - the first being a leap-frog ''Lilly'' she owns. The voice recorder was found on ebay (one cold have some great fun with this!!!)

Tuesday 12 June 2012

Did you guess?

I was making Rocky Road - i make mine with philly cheese instead of butter or marge! This happened the first time when i had planned to make it but Mr RaggyRat had eaten all the latter, and I was forced to try it having promised the small people! It's really nice and fudgy!

And of course, you remember my sweet little sofa ...

I covered the new cushion, and now no small things slip down the gap, or feel the sprung-ridge on their tender parts!

Saturday 9 June 2012

What am I making?

I am melting some chocolate ...

Stirring in some philly cheese!

And bashing some biscuits!

Our Sofa ....

I have been using my camera today to take some photographs I can work from, for my children's book ... well maybe not this one!

I think my vintage sofa (left at my request from the previous owner) is a great setting for many of our family adventures, especially those involving books or just talking together ... Come on Mum, sit down!

and I have also been working in something for the sofa - so take a good look at these 'before' pics! And take a peak at the sewing project, below -

Because you are mine!

The children's book im working on is carried about with me in portable form, only very recently it was accidently given an oil bath (dont ask!) and has become hard to read! Although i will keep it as it has memories and some charming additions from Daisy, it is time for a new copy to carry about with me ...
